Images taken at Roskilley, near Newlyn, Cornwall. Species was found lining uppershore pool, and also on pebbles in middleshore pools. 04.08.11. The species has also been found on large pebble in a middleshore pool at Battery Rocks, Penzance, Cornwall. 14.08.11; and at Chimney Rocks, Penzance, Cornwall. 10.04.12.
This species is named in honour of John Ralfs, an accomplished Penzance botanist born in 1807. He is most well known for his monograph of the “British Desmidieae”, which was published in 1848.
