This bryozoan which has tentatively been identified was found encrusting the trap door of a plastic Stone crab trap, presumed to be washed-up from Florida, USA. The object was found amongst a pile of plastic refuse that was collected from the strandline by beach cleaners at Par Beach, Par, near St. Austell, Cornwall. 20.12.15.

15 bivalves of the Bicolor purse oyster, Isognomon bicolor, were also found on unscrewing the trap door.

Biflustra tenuis is known as Membranipora tenuis and Acanthodesia tenuis.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
