Specimen above found on the bivalve Prickly saddle oyster, Heteranomia squamula, which was found in debris knocked off an old crab pot that had been trawled up by a fishing boat. Newlyn Marina, Newlyn, Cornwall. 29.08.15.

The species involved here was found on looking at samples under the microscope, it can barely be seen with the naked eye. Sessile ciliates may also be found on bryozoans, worms, worm tubes, sea squirts, etc..
