Stone crab trap panels and flots from the traps were frequently washing-up during storms in winter 2015/16. The traps are a primary source of non-native species, because of the fouling accumulated on the traps during their use in catching Stone crabs around the coast of Florida. These traps are also an environmental problem in Florida and wash-up on the beaches there in considerable numbers after storms.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
