A common small periwinkle resembling the Edible or Common Winkle but smaller; colour may vary but species may be yellow, orange, brown or banded. Found high on the uppershore, in rock crevices, often with barnacles, and in estuaries.

Often found in association with other marine snails which may include Melarhaphe neritoides, the Small Periwinkle; and Littorina nigrolineata.

Photographs taken on the River Camel at Rock, Cornwall; on rocks to the east of Par Beach, St. Blazey, near St. Austell, Cornwall; and in crevices on uppershore rocks at Marazion, near Penzance, Cornwall.
