A few specimens were obtained from washing the large brown algae Saccorhiza polyschides, Furbellows; which was found growing on the extreme lowershore at Challaborough, South Devon. 30.09.15.

Possibly Syllis variegata because of the strongly coloured markings. S. westheidei has similar markings and there is of course always the likelihood of finding a similar undescribed species.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
