A single male specimen was found with two females in a sample collected by washing stones from pools and wet areas, on the north side of Great Hogus, Marazion, Cornwall, 06.01.18. Images above of the male specimen. Perepod 6 was used as hairs appeared to be in better condition than pereopod 7.

Three male specimens and over 20 female specimens, some berried were found on washing cobbles found on the lowershore in a bucket of seawater and straining the liquid. The site chosen was close to where there is a fast flowing freshwater stream coming down the shore, which seemed to be close to the reported habitat for the species. The species was found on the NE side of the reef at Lariggan Rocks, Wherry Town, Penzance, Cornwall, 04.01.17.

Species found to be abundant under loose rocks with wet bottom below the slipway in the NW corner of Newlyn Harbour, Newlyn, Cornwall, 19.02.18.
Male specimens of Jaera (Jaera) ischiosetosa possess a dense cluster of curved setae on the distal portion of the ischium on pereopods 6 and 7. Females often appear green due to the colour of their eggs.
