Specimen above found in a small sample of algae taken from Battery Rocks, Penzance, Cornwall. 09.11.14.

Specimen appears to be a member of the sea spider family Ammotheidae; and probably distinct enough to be added here as it appears quite different and scarcer than other small sea spiders found locally. The species here is also somewhat problematic and may not be included in British Sea Spiders by P.E. King, 1974, written as part of the Synopses of the British Fauna series.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
