Specimens above washed-up on the beach at Marazion, Cornwall, 12.09.11, as a result of fishing. There is a large fishery in Mounts Bay dedicated to 'Cornish Sardines'.

Numerous scales were found in sieved sediment samples taken from the shallow sublittoral west of Long Rock, 17.09.20. Fish expert Douglas Herdson believes the scale above has come from a 4-6 year old specimen, which is quite old for the species.
