Specimen above found in a sample or coralline algae taken from the extreme lowershore east of the causeway for St. Michael's Mount, Marazion, Cornwall. 21.03.15.

Inga Williamson thinks the species is either Sphaerodorum gracilis (Rathke, 1843) or possibly Ephesiella abyssorum (Hansen, 1878), if it is, the ID depends on whether the chaetae are jointed or unjointed.

The former, Sphaerodorum gracilis is more frequently recorded in Cornwall.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
