This species is commonly found between tides in pools and under stones on the middle and lowershore across the region. It is also very variable, this can be site specific as the anemone tends to differ on sheltered and exposed sites.

Photography includes animals found at Wembury, Devil's Point and Batten Bay, Plymouth, Devon; and at Spit Point, Par, near St. Austell; Skilly near Newlyn; Chyandour Rocks, Penzance; and Carnsew Pool, Hayle, Cornwall.
